Cancellation and Refund Policy
Effective date: July 20, 2026
1. Overview
This Cancellation and Refund Policy explains how Content Lab trials, recurring subscriptions, cancellations, renewals, and refunds work.
Content Lab is operated by Emerge Digital.
2. Seven-Day Free Trial
Eligible customers may receive a seven-day free trial.
The trial:
- Requires no payment card.
- Includes one site.
- Includes two complete article generations.
- Includes one discovery scan.
- Begins only after email verification and final onboarding confirmation.
- Does not create a subscription automatically.
- Does not charge automatically.
- Ends exactly seven days after it starts unless access changes under an explicitly confirmed subscription.
Because no payment is collected for the no-card trial, there is no trial charge to refund.
3. Subscribing During a Trial
You may choose to subscribe at any point during the trial by completing Stripe Checkout.
Before confirmation, Content Lab will display:
- Plan.
- Price.
- Billing frequency.
- Trial end date.
- Expected first charge date.
- Automatic-renewal terms.
- Cancellation instructions.
- Applicable usage limits.
If Checkout is completed before the free trial expires, the first charge may be scheduled for the existing trial end date as disclosed during Checkout.
No charge will occur without your explicit Checkout authorization.
4. Automatic Renewal
Paid subscriptions renew automatically until canceled.
Monthly plans renew each month.
Annual plans renew each year.
The renewal price and frequency are disclosed before Checkout and in the subscription acknowledgment.
You authorize Emerge Digital and Stripe to charge the payment method associated with your subscription at each renewal unless you cancel before the applicable renewal.
5. How to Cancel
You may cancel online at any time.
To cancel:
- Sign in to Content Lab.
- Open Billing.
- Select Manage Subscription or open the Stripe billing portal.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm cancellation.
Cancellation must be available through a simple online process and must not require calling, mailing a letter, or speaking with a retention representative.
After cancellation, we will provide confirmation electronically.
If you cannot access your account, email:
Include the account email address, but do not send a password or full payment-card information.
6. Effect of Cancellation
Unless otherwise required by law:
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
- You retain paid access until that date.
- No additional renewal charge should occur after effective cancellation.
- Unused credits do not convert to cash.
- Credits do not transfer to another account.
- Unused time is not prorated.
- Deleting the application or stopping use does not cancel a subscription.
You must complete the cancellation process through Billing or contact us if you cannot access it.
7. Refund Policy
Subscription payments are generally nonrefundable once a billing period begins.
We do not ordinarily provide refunds or credits for:
- Partial billing periods.
- Unused time.
- Unused article credits.
- Unused discovery scans.
- Successful AI work that you later discard.
- Failure to cancel before renewal.
- Account inactivity.
- Dissatisfaction with an AI-generated result after the service successfully performed the requested work.
- Search-ranking, traffic, conversion, or revenue outcomes.
We will provide refunds when required by applicable law.
We will also review requests involving:
- Duplicate charges.
- Charges made after a timely cancellation.
- Incorrect subscription amounts.
- A verified billing-system error.
- Unauthorized charges reported promptly.
- A material service failure for which Content Lab did not provide the purchased access.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method where practical.
Bank and payment-network processing times may affect when a refund appears.
8. AI Failures and Credits
A permanent technical failure in an article-generation or paid revision job should refund the reserved application credit rather than create a cash refund.
A technical retry should reuse the same reservation and should not consume a duplicate credit.
A successful AI generation or revision counts against the applicable usage allowance even if you later discard the output.
Manual edits, version comparison, restoration, approval, and export do not consume AI credits unless clearly disclosed otherwise.
9. Price Changes
We may change subscription prices prospectively.
Before a material price change applies, we will provide notice and any consent, cancellation opportunity, or refund right required by applicable law.
A price change will not retroactively alter a completed billing period.
If applicable law allows a price increase without advance affirmative consent only when a post-charge cancellation and refund right is provided, we will honor the legally required cancellation window and refund amount.
10. Founding Subscriptions
Founding pricing is intended for the first 25 qualifying customers whose Founding subscriptions are successfully activated.
A continuously subscribed Founding customer retains the applicable Founding price, subject to taxes and changes required by law.
If a Founding subscription is fully canceled:
- Access continues through the current paid period.
- The Founding slot may no longer be reserved after the subscription ends.
- Returning later does not guarantee restoration of Founding pricing.
- Starter or Growth pricing may apply.
11. Failed Payments
If payment fails, we may:
- Retry the payment.
- Ask you to update your payment method.
- Provide a payment-recovery period.
- Restrict new discovery, generation, or revision actions.
- Suspend paid access.
- Cancel the subscription after applicable notice.
We will not knowingly continue charging a canceled subscription.
12. Plan Changes
If plan changes are available:
- The price and effective date will be displayed before confirmation.
- Upgrades or downgrades may be prorated by Stripe as disclosed during the change.
- New usage limits apply at the displayed time.
- A plan change does not restore previously consumed usage unless expressly stated.
- A change from Founding may cause loss of Founding pricing.
13. Content Access After Service Ends
When a trial or paid-access period ends:
- New discovery and AI-generation actions may be blocked.
- Existing content may remain readable and exportable for up to 30 days.
- Content may be scheduled for deletion 90 days after access ends.
- You should export content you want to retain.
- Billing, consent, fraud-prevention, tax, security, and legal records may be retained longer.
- Backup copies may remain until overwritten under normal backup retention.
Resubscribing before scheduled deletion may cancel deletion where technically and legally available.
14. Account Deletion Is Not Subscription Cancellation
Requesting account deletion does not replace the subscription-cancellation process unless Content Lab explicitly confirms that the subscription was canceled.
Before deleting your account, verify your subscription status in Billing.
When processing an account deletion request, we will attempt to identify and cancel an associated active subscription, but you remain responsible for reviewing the cancellation confirmation.
15. Refund Requests
To request review of a billing issue, email:
Include:
- Account email address.
- Invoice or charge date.
- Amount.
- Description of the issue.
Do not send:
- Passwords.
- Full card numbers.
- Card security codes.
- API keys.
Submit billing-error requests promptly, preferably within 30 days after the charge.
Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy prospectively.
Material changes will receive notice where required by law.
The policy in effect at the time of a charge generally governs that charge, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
